So just like that, suddenly 4 months of instructing came to an end yesterday !!

I ( Pete) was teaching ski beginners and at the end of the lesson I was promoting them to Club 1 when they asked if I’d still be their instructor tomorrow ( the usual answer is we don’t know until 11pm but you can ask for us if you enjoyed the lesson but we might still get switched to snowboarding lessons depending on guest numbers ). So it felt very strange to say “No, I won’t be your instructor as it’s my LAST DAY TODAY”. I’m not going to lie, they looked upset šŸ˜šŸ˜

Luckily for all of us after our last blog, it did cool down and even snowed a few times (the 6 hours of lessons in the pissing down rain really wasn’t a fun day……. ) so the snow lasted quite well until we left. We even managed a last JapPow run.

It’s been really tiring some days, particularly if we sneaked in a lunchtime lap of skiing or boarding šŸ‚ and depending on what duties we had in the evenings. I wasn’t totally convinced my legs were going to last the season as my knees were really sore some days, Janet was also struggling with her knee and achilles….

But with stretching several times a day , a few hot baths and the odd massage (thanks Xavi) , we made it.

The team of instructors really were a good fun group this season. Even though we were working and playing hard, there were no arguments. We also had an end of season awards night in which a guy from the Isle of man won Shark (aka shagger) of the season, sadly it wasn’t me šŸ¤Ŗ

We went to bed at 2AM, others stayed up…. safe to say there were a few rough looking instructors the next day !!

On one of the hotter days, we’d all planned to do a beach wear ski, just for fun. I opted for shorts and a t-shirt because A) Sunburn B) my body’s so white I’d blend into the snow like camouflage C) dad bod…. the others were a lot braver !! It was a great laugh racing each other down the red run!

So the plan now

So now we are free to travel for a month around Japan. Can’t wait to see more of the country, experience more of the culture and the cuisine. Tokyo here we come ……
