We arrived, unpacked, stocked up on some required household items like lightbulbs and kitchen bits then collected uniforms, PR photos etc.

We also took some time to try to find the quickest way to walk to work in the mornings (you may know how much Pete loves early mornings). Our route entails a walk through a forest, over a field, across a river and through the backstreets but we can do it now in 18 minutes (quite a lot longer coming back in the dark we discovered tonight).

Yesterday was the official opening of Bansko resort and it was busy with Greek students making themselves into human cannonballs of skis and snowboards as they hurtled down the slopes totally out of control! They don’t ever take lessons apparently. I’ve never seem so much carnage of people trying to get on the magic carpet in the beginner area!

We both shadowed a beginner ski lesson to see the best areas to use. Then Jore showed us which runs were open on the mountain.

There as been quite a bit of snow but much more is needed to open all the ski runs and the 7km ski road all way down to the village. Come on snow !

We also got to join in the celebrations for the 10 years of Sankiy Ski School with a gorgeous cake and lots of neat whiskey.

And maybe a few beer chasers !
