From Nikka we headed to Motegi, a race track owned and built by Honda, to watch a round of the Japanese superbikes.
I (Pete) had tried to book tickets online but the pricing structure was just too confusing so we were hoping it wasn’t a sell out…..

Both of us in paradise, Janet with her cherry blossom, me with motorbikes

When we arrived we quickly worked out there were only 2 prices for that day, so obviously bought the cheapest oneΒ  πŸ™‚Β  ( all the other prices online must only apply when the Motogp is in town ).
Watched the 1st race from the main grandstand seats ( windy & cold ) qhikst eating our packed lunch and moved to the end of the back straight for the main race and basked in the sunshine there.Β

End of the back straight, superbike action

The bloke in front was live streaming the race on his phone and because there wasn’t a big screen at that corner, I managed to look over his shoulder until they went past each lap πŸ˜€

The racing was good but the leur of the Honda museum was too strong so we (Pete really) spent an hour or so there drooling over all the bikes and cars.

It says a lot about Honda that the opening stand had a TT WINNER, F1 winner, their 1st sports car, a C90 and a GENERATOR !!

Not matchbox toys, full size vehicles in the lobby of the museum
TT winning bike with a period picture of Hilberry corner from the TT course behind it (less than a mile from my house)

I was actually a bit upset that they didn’t have any of the modern TT winners bikes, but they did have a lot of RC45’s but in American or world endurance trim.

Predecessors to my current trials bike
Unique front end, they never took off

Drove to that night’s accommodation which was an old shipping Container  !! More of that in a later blog

Clowning around pretending I’m riding the dakar
