When we were travelling in Laos we met a fun French couple who loved motorbikes and had visited the TT the year before. We bumped into them once more in Laos and spent a surprise afternoon playing pool with them in Hue in Vietnam. Small world! They had plans to move to Bordeaux when they finished their travels so when we decided to head to the West of France in search of better weather, we dropped them a message. They invited us to stay with them and they showed us around Bordeaux.
We had no expectations of Bordeaux but, after a couple of days there, we could see what attracted them. The city is big but very flat and has many cycle lanes and trams. We have never seen so many people on two wheels with free bicycles, an electric scooter scheme, a huge skate park and lots of cycle lanes. How cool! The city also has some amazing sandstone architecture and great wine, what’s not to like?
And speaking of wine…….. our day trip to St Emilion to look at the medieval city and taste wine was fab. The sparkling wine at Les Cloirs de Cordelieurs was very yummy!
So thanks Fanny and David for a great stay and lots of travel stories and laughter.
Maybe next time we see them, it may be in the Isle of Man when we can repay their fabulous hospitality. #travellingfriends
