No 1 – public toilets EVERYWHERE 😳😎 Normally with spa function 🤯 and even a button to play music as a “courtesy” flush
The people, amazing, polite, friendly and yet very intriguing at the same time. From the ones dressed as bo peep, to the ones wearing animal ear hats ( Think Disney rather than Davey Crockett ) , the ones doing 30 min photoshoots at every location they visited, to the ones who took their cuddly toy to any tourist attraction and only took photos of it with the attraction in the background.
To all the bowing, running to help you, more bowing, giggling at most things we said, to oohing & ahhing at anything new, to giggling like mad if we understood them ( the waitress who said Beer everytime she walked past us ) or the ones who laughed and smiled if we said a Japanese word like we were cunning linguists.
The food, tasty, varied ( certainly parts of the animal no longer eaten in the UK), cheap and plentiful. And sooooo much choice, you’ll never go hungry in Japan for sure. They never take the piss with prices either if at, say the Japanese superbikes, same price as Japan all over. England just fleece you at events…….
Pete’s favourite was probably curried bread, gyoza or the spicy ramens.
Janet’s – sashimi, mostly because its SOOOO expensive in the UK Pete bans her from having it 🤣🤣 it’s super fresh in Japan.
The scenery. Obviously we went for the snow but we knew Japan had lots of beautiful, historic temples and some massive cities but we weren’t prepared for the sheer variety Japan has to offer. The Alps of Tokyo (Honshu) Island were vast and stunning, volcanoes, natural hotsprings, gorgeous bays and even a tropical island way off the south as an end of holiday treat with clear, blue water.
Can you tell we loved it 😍😍😍
