We have arrived in Furano. 3 days on still getting a bit of jet lag. Hopefully tonight I won’t see between 1am and 3am again. We have been to the Town Hall to register, got our 7 different coloured bags for our rubbish, got a Japanese SIM each and checked out the gym membership. Yesterday, it rained all day, which we hoped wasn’t too damaging to the snow on the mountain. Here in the town it got very slushy and slippery and I found holes in the soles of my newish boots – doh! So the choice of footwear was grippy and wet boots or slippy but dry trainers.
Yesterday was indoor training and the collection of our Minions uniform. Today was our orientation on snow with all the ski team and so we were ecstatic to wake up this morning to a fresh layer of snow. The snow on the mountain was lovely at the top with fresh pow – bliss. Lower down there were sections where you could feel the compacted ice underneath the fresh snow and then small sections with ice balls – not so nice. It was great to ski with everyone and then we met up with the boarders and all shredded a few laps together.
It was enough to make the legs start burning. It’s been a while since March ! We start teaching on Monday so have a couple of days to play. Bring it on!
