One of the many great things about travel is coming home to see your friends and family. Your time away makes you appreciate those that you love and miss and then you suddenly find yourselves within a crazy scramble to get to see everyone. And that is exactly what we have been doing for the last three weeks.

We spent four nights staying with various friends and family in the UK while gradually heading North. We went to a fab Halloween party which created great memories. We also stopped in Watford to buy Pete a snowboard, binding and boots – how exciting. We stayed in The Wirral for a night and caught up with my family and our bestie friends and their 18-month old cutest twin boys.

Then we took a boat from Heysham on a calm (shock horror) crossing to Douglas in the Isle of Man.

Back on The Rock we have had a busy calendar of lunches and evenings out to meet up with our Manx friends and our family here. After about ten days of torrential rain, we considered converting the van into an Ark but thankfully it has now finally stopped raining. This has allowed for some mountain biking with mates and a road cycle to the dentist (37 mile round trip).

Also a walk up a breezy South Barrule today.

The dry weather has allowed us to remember why we love the IOM so much and the many catch-ups have reminded who we love to spend time with here (you know who you are guys).

The dry weather has also allowed us to clean the van (Louis 2) and advertise it for sale. In fact, we have a buyer who will collect Louis 2 next Sunday (before we fly out on Monday). We can’t promise dry eyes as we watch Louis go onto a new adventure (and that’s just Pete), but we have our own exciting new chapter in Canada coming very soon. Eek ! We best get online and buy a few more thermals and arrange some more catch-ups for our last week here …………
