Pete’s continued good health saw him go to Ajitos and showed the youngsters how to play pool 🎱    he hasn’t been back incase it was fluke πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆπŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒ

Pete then had a student from last season for a week who managed her goal of being able to ski down from the top of ropeway (on day 3) and managed every run on the mountain excluding the non groomed blacks 🀟🀟

We then shared an Aussie family for a week who were just a joy to work with 😍😍  progressed so much and will definitely never ski in Australia again πŸ§ŠπŸ§Šβ›ΈοΈβ›ΈοΈ

More Manxies

I saw Kierion’s post of being in Niseko in deep powder and liked it. He said “it’s our last day here as we are off to Furano for the last few days of our holidays!!!!!”   Cool, let’s meet up 🍺  no mention of accommodation plans etc

So in a small IOM way left it at that and said for him to message when they arrived and we’d sort a plan.   Pete went out to meet some Taiwanese students from last year for a drink and then stopped in Burlap for a beer whilst waiting for the van to collect him. He chatted to a Yank while there.  An hour later he gets a message from Kieron asking  “were you in my hotel bar before?” !!!!!   Turns out he checked in, grabbed a beer, sat down says hello to the Yank, “where are you from?”  “IOM”, Yank says “REALLY I was just chatting to someone from there!” πŸ€”  K asks, ginger?  yes, k says “Peter?”,  yes πŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒ  The poor Yank’s mind was blown 🀯

Then Pete gets home and shows Janet the photo and she says I used to work with Anthony……..

For the Manxies last night they came to the Nepalese by our apartment (kidnapping 2 of the bar girls from Burplap ) for a good feed and a right laugh.

There’s been lots of training for the staff this year, mostly night time but more daytime sessions than last 2 years too, which is great πŸ‘    We learn so much in these sessions and get to rip fast which if you’ve been working on the Magic Carpet beginner area all day feels like warp speed.

And ski tuning guidance πŸ™

The annual Bonchi festival again was a good excuse for the staff to let their hair down, a few beers, the Hokkaido drummers performanceΒ  and then us all doing the ski torch run down before the fireworks finale.

Hokkaido drummers

The kids carried on at the bars but Janet had been feeling unwell, so was Des, and we scooted off home.

This year the festival included a inflatable boat pull race the next day !!
