Next we headed to Monterey to meet up with a special friend from the Isle of Man, who now lives and works in the USA. She was going to be working at Leguna Seca and Pete was very excited to be given the opportunity to see the famous race track and more specifically the infamous corner called the Corkscrew.

The event being filmed was the Trans AM race but the whole day was filled with different categories of cars, some classic and some not. Pete was in his element!

Not only did he get to take lots of photos and watch the races, he got to drive a brand new Jaguar F-Type which was awesome 😍😍, a new Jaguar I Pace (electric car) around an auto-cross course and then a Land Rover on an off-road course.

We spent all day watching different races and wandering round the Paddock with our media passes. There was also an odd bit of ferrying the filming crew around and carrying of their equipment – well we had to do something to earn our passes 😉

The next day we cycled from Pacific Grove around the coast on 17 mile Drive to Carmel. The route passes lovely bays and beaches.

It also passes the famous Pebble Beach golf couse which is currently preparing to host The US Open.

The 250 year old Lone Cypress Tree which inspired the golf club’s logo

We cycled back via the Del Monte Forest which is quite hilly and completed our 25 mile ride. I think we deserved our gorgeous dinner at Clint Eastward’s place.

What a great few days catching up with an old chum and exploring a lovely part of the USA.
