“So where to this time?” – we have been asked this question several times today by friends and acquaintances we bumped into at the airport in the Isle of Man this morning (you can’t go anywhere in the IOM without seeing people you know). The answer is Canada (via a night in a hotel near Heathrow airport). We are each travelling with a stuffed snowboard bag, a 23kg wheelie suitcase and hand luggage bag with our snowboard boots in. This is going to be fun on the bus to the hotel. I wonder how many people I can “take out” with a long snowboard bag slung over my shoulder? And to think, I’m not normally allowed to use a golf umbrella because Pete thinks I’m too dangerous with one!
So our three weeks at home in the Isle of Man have flown over. We have sold our lovely van to a young guy who is going to use it to get to and stay at his motorcycle races in the UK. We have met many friends for lunch, dinner and drinks. We have been mountain biking with pals and discovered new tracks on the island.
I have clocked up a further six hours of lifeguard training ready for my next lifeguard assessment. We have had family round for dinner and I even squeezed in an early Christmas night out with the girls.
It has been lovely to spend time with everyone and make phone calls to others in the UK while in the same time zone. But now it is time to leave for our next exciting chapter …… the snowboard instructor’s course.
Sun Peaks resort, British Columbia, already has snow all the way down to the village, the pre-course homework has been done (well one of us may be planning on doing theirs today at the hotel), and the breakfast meeting with our fellow students is set for Wednesday morning. We can’t wait!!!!!
