We decided our last few days of our SE trip should be spent on an island, soaking up the sun. So from Hanoi we flew to the very South of Vietnam to Phu Quoc. After a 2 hour direct flight we checked into the Eco Beach Resort in Ong Lang beach – wow! This is like nothing we have stayed in the whole trip! It is a small resort with an infinity swimming pool, private beach, free bicycles and kayaks, a buffet breakfast, cocktail bar and all for just £50 per night (yes Pete – only £50!!!) !
It has been great to chill here and sort out some things ready for when we get home but also to get our heads around this being the end of our trip. After here we have just one night in Bangkok (just to see how much it has changed in 20 years) and then a flight to Manchester.
But don’t worry, true to our usual form it hasn’t all been about chilling. One day we took the city bikes and, much to the receptionist’s amazement, managed to cycle about 55km, including 14km of that off road. This took us to “Starfish Beach” which really is covered in starfish.
It was gorgeous there (apart from all the Russian photo shoots happening all around us).
Next we plan to hire a moped and explore the rest of the island ……..
