All of a sudden, the daytime temperatures in Sun Peaks have gone crazy from minus 10 degrees to plus 9 degrees and people are shedding layers! It is nice to try and get rid of the tan line from your snood (worn under your helmet for warmth) but it is not great for the snow conditions. As you walk around the town all you can hear is running water as the snow melts.

First Canadian ice cream of the trip

Skiing in these conditions has certainly been a challenge. It is icy and hard packed first thing in the morning and then suddenly turns slushy and sticky in the afternoon. As you go through the shade of a tree you speed up and then as you go into the next sunny patch, which seems like a pool of superglue, your skis feel as though they are going to come to a complete stop and your body is going to be catapulted from them. Great views though!

Looking back from Mount Morrisey over Tod Mountain and Burfield Mountain

With four Irish guys in our group, last Sunday we had a great time celebrating Paddy’s Day and the sunshine helped by giving opportunity for our first beers outside (apart from the regular hot tub beers of course).

Holly and I getting ready to teach our CADS students

The number of students in training in Monday morning may have been a little depleted – but we made it!
