So what is Sun Peaks like in the summer? Pretty cool actually. Much busier than Big White, which we took a short detour to see on the way. There are people golfing, biking, hiking, or going to the lakes to kayak or SUPing everywhere. There is a tarmac go-kart track under the beginner slope, a golf range at the bottom of the lifts and a progression bike park where the tubing track is in the winter! We tried to do a bit of everything while here. We rented enduro bikes and hit the trails in the bike park. It was cool to ride the trails that we’d used as our off-piste playground when snowboarding. There is a Whistler-esque variety of trails here from gnarly, technical steeps to swooping, flowing bermtastic runs. The mountains were covered in wild flowers which was gorgeous to see. There were even cows grazing on one run!And deers on others. We tried out the cross country trails from Lake McGillvary and found Little Lake Mcgillvary on the way too. The trails (snow shoeing trails in the winter) were quite wide and easy so that allowed for some sightseeing while pootling. And we had a great day out with Ron who took us to Chase where we went SUPing and then on a crazy three person 100ft swing.Pete played golf for the first time in about seven years and actually played really well! He didn’t have to buy the drinks anyway 😆Luckily the deer weren’t on the green that night! But it wasn’t all fun, fun, fun. We had some jobs to do such as tax returns, doing a service and some more sanding then spray painting on Fred. And getting Fred’s leak from the transmission system looked at. Luckily the garage who fitted it in USA has agreed to cover the costs to get it fixed. And before you know it, we have been in Sun Peaks for a week and a half! It has been great catching up fellow students, instructors and friends from the hotel but also seeing the resort buzzin in the summer. We really enjoyed our holiday in Sun Peaks and loved having a home in which to shower, cook in the oven or on the bbq and relax in the hot tub. Thanks very much Jeff!
