Sorry we’ve not done a blog post for ages but we have been busy operating a B&B for friends and family. First to visit for a week was Janet’s friend. She likes to walk so we took her to Les Chapieux to see the glaciers and to the old village of Le Monal.

Then Janet and her did a stunning two day walk from Peisey-nancroix over the mountain top to stay at a refuge at Le lac de Plagne and then over the Col du Palet to Tignes and then to Val D’Isere.

The next visitors were Janet’s parents for two weeks. We visited a few lakes (Cormet de Roselend, Aime Base de Loisirs, Lac de Annecy, Bourges le Lac, Tignes and Lac de Sassiere ), went cheese tasting in Beaufort and sampled the delights of L’Arbassan restaurant. It was amazing weather the whole of their stay.

Whilst they were staying with us, Pete went to recce some mountain bike trails for when his friend visited. All was going well until the end Road section when he crashed on some disguised gravel and thought he’d broken his thumb. An xray showed it wasn’t broken just ligament bruising – ouch. But no riding for four weeks!

So our next visitor for 6 days was Pete’s mate who’d come for 4 days of mountain biking with Pete – oops, no can do! So for two days Janet played guide. First they went to the 7 Laux bike park near Grenoble. The next day Pete played one handed uplift driver and they rode the local black trails including Dream Forest (down from La Rosiere), Black 8 and also St Michel’s chapel trail. After a fast pace and a few crashes Janet retired as guide. The next day Pete drove his mate over to La Bisanne and gave uplifts to do the natural trails and the last day his friend went out with Emily from The Inside Line and had a great trip from Lac de Sassiere.

And then the Bourg B&B closed. Ferme.

We had just a few days left to enjoy the local sights before packing up to move out of the apartment at the end of September. A quick swim in Lac de Annecy.

Then we went over to La Thuile (in Italy) and walked the up to the three Rutor Cascades. They were stunning and the scenery reminded us of Canada.

Janet was also happy to see the local swimming pool reopen so visited three times in the week.

And then before the packing started we had a great fairwell soiree at our place

…… but where to next?
