To quote the Lego movie (maybe not a mid-forties person’s best reference material ) “Everything is awesome”! ! P.S. This is Pete’s first Blog !!Two bucket list goals ticked off this last week – are cycling Laguna Seca racetrack, and mostly the Rossi v Stoner corkscrew section, AND riding a Santa Cruz bike in Santa Cruz 😍 the home/maybe birthplace of mountain biking. We did five laps of the circuit, two with some friends we made earlier in the day, and I did no handers down the corkscrew 😀Then the demo day at the Santa Cruz factory. It didn’t start off so well – as in they said “No we are fully booked today and the factory tour is cancelled today – why didn’t you prebook online? ?” Well because we don’t plan that far ahead 😉#vanlife. Clarke was a good guy though and said that even though they were fully booked tomorrow, if we came in after 11am he’d see what he could offer us. As it goes we both got the bikes we wanted 👍The test ride area (Wilder Ranch State Park) was nice (The Enchanted Loop was the most fun so we did it twice) but really the bikes deserved a much gnarlier trail to showcase what they have got – but they were mega bikes with carbon EVERYTHING 😎And today we found the trail the Megatower was really built for. It was in the Soquel Demonstration State Forest but we had to ride it on our $150 Wal-Mart bikes (not the $10k bikes) …… still it was amazing fun and nothing broke on our bikes so a right result. We also got to try an off-road tandem – what a head-wrecking experience that was!Upon completion of the Flow Trail and a 3.75mile climb back out we tried to bathe in what turned out to be a very cold river, then drove and parked up a few miles from the trail overlooking the hills for wine, dinner and a magic sunset. All finished off with some roasted marshmallows. What a great few days!
