Before leaving Kamloops, we visited the wildlife sanctuary as we’d heard the grizzly bears were awake for the spring. It was lovely to see them playing together but I wouldn’t want to have a play wrestle with them! There were lots of other orphaned or injured animals (usually hit by cars) were there but I think my favourites were the racoons.Or maybe the coyotes…….And then we left for Hope and walked some of the Kettle Valley Railway. Our destination was the Othello Tunnels which unfortunately we discovered were closed off for work. After about 6km walking to get there, we weren’t going to be deterred and with a bit of climbing we got to walk through the first of the three tunnels.Shame we couldn’t see it all, but the walk was nice along the river (apart from the detour which resulted in us scaling a steep bank probably over bear dens to get there!).Then onto Vancouver for a drive around Stanley Park which was in Spring bloom with beautiful cherry blossom. And then a return visit to Whistler to see Martin, Claire and the girls. While they needed to go to Vancouver for a couple of days, we looked after their two lovely dogs, Socks and Bailey.
We took Socks for a day trip to Pemberton and he had a great time swimming in One Mile Lake and walking to Nairn Waterfalls.
