So with no formal training and about 15 days in total on skis, we both managed to pass our Level 1 Ski Intructor’s exam. That means we are both now qualified to teach beginner skiers – at least the feeling of being a beginner is totally fresh in our minds!
It did help hugely that we had the benefit of 9 days of Level 2 Ski Intructor training before the exam, so we were already working towards the the next level and had been exposed to moguls, double black diamond runs and tree runs. However, it has to be said that when they announced that everyone had passed the Level 1, we were very relieved.
We felt that a few celebratory drinks were in order and as it had been Gay Pride Weekend, there were lots of cocktails on the menu to choose from.
So now the Level 2 training continues and the level of skiing required advances. There have been a few crashes, a few ski ejections, an odd twisted knee but nothing that we can’t bounce back from as yet. We have another three weeks of training…. we best get working on it!
