We were still in Japan when people were asking “why Taiwan ” and we were saying we’d had some lovely students from there so why not try it….. To be fair when we asked the students what to do in Taiwan, most said eat !!! Although that was the same for Korea and it worked out well there ππ
So anyway we flew into Taipei with no real expectation, just another capital city right ???
We met up with JC, a more freespirited snowboarding student from clun med season. She suggested Yangmingshan national park, we were late π³π³ after not totally paying attention to bus timetables the evening we arrived π
Anyway JC was waiting for us, showed us the volcano steam vents, lizards π¦ and sulphur clouds. Then we ate her picnic of Taiwan delicacies that she’d bought for us to try, the jellies were weird but tasty. Then we had a gentle hike to see the canna Lilli’s with a stunning backdrop.

Being the true guide JC left us when we’d got on the last bus home, unsure how she was getting back to her scooter !!
We got off the bus at the night Market she’d recommended and had some great, tasty street food πππ at one point we walked past what smelt like a broken sewer, more of that later !!!!

Next day street food for breakfast, then over to Taipei 101 for a skeet.

Then meeting 4 cool, fun students Pete taught in March.Β Wendy, Kim, Ruby & Vicki had booked a stir fry restaurant and bouyed by the beer we’d already had we said order whatever πΒ Β Β 98 % was delicious,Β even the 1,000 year eggs – but the line was drawn at the stinky tofuΒ !!!!!Β

Obvs we both tried someΒ but the taste was what we thought was broken sewersΒ !!!!!Β Β Apparently good for the stomachΒ ???!?!?!

Next day took a train to Tamsui, that Janet wanted to visit. As it goes it was colder than dreamt of but we lucked out as there was a festival happening which was cool.

Then we tried some local delicacies, the massive chocolate cake obviously being the favourite π

Next morning we picked up a hire car ππ
