Lots of snowy days around the 10th December meant more pistes started to open up, and the lessons started in earnest.

Luckily, most of the first few days’ lessons were just half days, which was a good way to break in the legs (and brain 🧠  tbh).  Pete lucked out and had a few snowboarding teens who, after 2 days, could go higher up the mountain, and it just happened to coincide with a powder day 😍

Post snow angel stop

It was just so nice being back with the old gang of instructors and that we’d all get together and explore the mountain in the afternoon’s.  We had some right good laughs.

Next up was coach Dan’s birthday and just like last year we all went 10 pin bowling with a few 🍻🍻🍻

A few days later, along came Jas’s birthday and we cracked our karaoke cherry for this season 🎤🎤   we had such a laugh, kicked off by Brian singing Mariah Carey – All I want for Xmas and then half way through the song peeling off his coat to reveal his Mariah t-shirt 👀😅❄️

The life of Brian

Then it’s suddenly Xmas week, lessons are oversubscribed so everyone is busy. It’s great to be back at it, just a shame a cold is going round the team so we aren’t always feeling our best………

Daily commute

We popped round to our Japanese friends apartment to catch up with them and their cats 🐈   over pizza and sake. they stayed in Furano for the summer and trained and worked as white water rafting guides, which sounded pretty cool 😎

On Xmas eve we cooked dinner for a few instructors at our apartment,  mostly because Flor is from Argentina and that’s the day they celebrate and it made her homesick to be alone in her apartment 😢   We had such a great time in Argentina 10 years ago – we had to do something nice.

Chef JT 😋

Just like last year, coach Bella organised a staff party on Xmas Day night up at the portacabin.  Lots of nice food made by the instructors to remind them of their home traditions and with a secret santa twist – very funny night.

A bit looser 🍻

Everyone had a nightcap at Ajitos bar on the way home where Pete and Seb were undefeated at pool 🎱   So much so that 2 Asian women watching asked Pete if he was professional  😁🫣🫣🫣🫣

A Few of us even made it to Ningle Terrace, basically a winter grotto that Janet really wanted to visit last year but we never made it.  Crazily we see at least 100 coaches arriving each day to go there , full of tourists in beige costumes !!!!

Cute though

Students so far have mostly been from Thailand or Singapore but this week also some from Taiwan. The Thai’s look shocked when we say hello in Thai  (all that backpacking paying off).

Happy Philippino students

Pete then timed a morning off to perfection 👌   the snow over night was amazing so he headed off with Seb & Bruce (in their 20’s) for some JaPow laps – what amazing snowboarding 🏂   although not as sendy as the youth.

Janet unfortunately spent her recent day and a half off mostly in the apartment trying to shake off the pesky cold.  Fingers crossed she’s seen the back of it ready to party for the New Year!!!!
